b'Ben WalkerBen and his partner Josienne Clark have been gaining lots of fans over the last few years. Ben takes a very delicate, almost classical approach to playing steel strings, and Josiennes voice soars. They have made some very interesting videos as well.Bens main guitar for quite some time has been an Alchemist, but he ordered a special model and I had a lot of fun making it. Ben is very tall, so it isnt obvious at first that this is a large guitar - a Baritone in fact, based on a Falstaff. He wanted a wide tuning range, so I built it as a fan fret which helps with that, but it is subtle, and not easy to spot from a distance. The top edge is beveled to make it easier to hold slightly away from his body and get the huge rich sound that was so admired at this years BBC Folk Awards. It was a special performance, and we were in the audience, listening to the oohs and aahs from those nearby.Afterwards, lots of people asked me is that one of yours? Ben and Josienne, and the guitar, won best duo. It was well deserved, but shouldnt it have been best trio? 91'
