b'How many clampsHow many clamps can a guitar maker clamp, when a guitar makers clamps are all clamped?There was a period in the 1970s when G clamps were not available, we had to order them six months in advance, and they were one of my major expenses. We use all of these at one time or another, laminating half a dozen necks requires anything up to sixty at a time, if I get a move on and fit four necks and bridges, thats sixteen at a time.The green ones with Fylde on are my own design, I made the pattern and had them cast in aluminium, then fitted various screws and handles, if I can find another foundry Im hoping to get some others made, its lovely to have your name on a G clamp. I offered to use Moiras name, but she isnt interested.The long thin brass ones are modifications of short thin brass ones and are great for clampingbinding across a soundboard, Paul keeps those at his bench,the ones with yellow paint are modified for help in cutting saddle slots,and live under Alexs bench, and the blue box more or less in the middle has all my own favourites in, and lives under my bench.There are good clamps, and bad clamps, Im always on the lookout for the very best, they arent made any more, and they get snapped up very quickly. 200'
