b'Will McNicolMost of my customers come to me by way of recommendations. Its a lovely thing to happen, and it is even better when the recommendation is from one professional artist to another. Tristan Seume was one of the judges on the Guitarist Magazine Acoustic Guitarist of the year in 2011 when the winner was Will McNicol. Im not surprised that Tris voted for him, as there are a lot of connections between the two of them. Both players have precise, technical styles and are gifted readers, but have not been restricted by any of that. Will originally concentrated on Nylon strung guitar rather than steel strings, but playing his own compositions rather than the Classical music, which you might have expected. He does often use steel strings though, and the result of our discussions was a rather nice Rosewood Alexander. He was so pleased with it that he ordered a Nylon strung guitar from me as well, which again we were both very pleased with. He has recently used it with the Three Tors Orchestra, so before long I expect to be represented on last night of the Proms. More recently I think Ive noticed Will using his steel string more than the Nylon. Its one of those happy stories where everything turned out just right.60'
