b'AM I BOTHERED? To bother(Oxford Dictionary: to take the time to do something)is a constant challenge that confronts me, usually driven by time and energy levels. All this jazzing oneself up takes effort and frankly there are days when I simply cant be bothered. However, when I do put on my face, get a haircut or paint my nails I feel brighter, perkier and more in control. Seek out the myriad beauty writers and bloggers who can guide you in this ever-changing world. For what its worth, here are my tips:Tip 1: Skincare: Apply a body oil, great for reducing pimples, blotches and dry skin; keep at it and your limbs will thank you. For the face and dcolletage, you know the drill: remove your make-up, cleanse and moisturise, twice a day. Keep off the fags, limit the booze, drink loads of water, get some sleep and resist the urge to fiddle with a spot. Tip 2: Makeup: Gather up a handheld mirror, natural daylight, your products of choiceandsetyourself5-10minutesof quiet time (although I can nail it in under 3 minutes at a push). My daytime look consists of: primer, tinted SPF moisturiser to give an even base; cream blusher; a brow pencil to define; liquid liner or kohl, mascara and a lip colour. To take it up a notch I accent with liquid highlighter, apply lash flares and play around with eyeshadows. Tip 3: Hair: I tend to hang around the perimeters of a bob, in various guises, which suits my poker straight hair and appeals to my mod tendencies. I havent dyed my hair for years and quite like the specks of grey around my hairline. I often fiddle around with my fringe, pinning it to the side or styling it in a quiff. On days when I cant be bothered to wash it, I push through some wax, bend it with a tong and make it look deliberate.Page 78'
