b'I love my son to bits but hes one of my many sacrificesTHESE pictures pretty much tell the story. Campbell was five at the time, he marched into the Betta Bodies Gym, so relaxed, so well-known, so welcome he may as well have been in his own home. The trainers, conditioners, goffers and general Hatton entourage all dote on the kid, though none more so than Ricky. Ricky had a fight to train for, work to do, a heavy training session to complete and yet nothing would stop him playing around in the ring with Campbell, play-wrestling with him, putting up his fists as if for a fight. It has become a bit of a clich in sport these days for a champion to grab one of their children in front of the cameras, almost like a trophy accessory. Yet though Ricky knew that Marc was in the gym taking pictures, there was nothing staged about this. Ricky doesnt particularly go in for staged anything - that is really the point.A couple of weeks later, in pre-fight camp in Las Vegas, he would miss Campbells birthday. Campbell, my little boy, it was his sixth birthday today, he told us down the phone on a media conference call. Every birthdays special, but when your kids are about five and six years of age its a wonderful time to go from not being a baby to, like, little people and it really would have been nice to spend the birthday with him. But I spoke to him on the phone this morning and hes got loads of presents and everything. So yeah, I am very, very disappointed. I love my son to bits but its one of many sacrifices that I have to make for this fight. Obviously that makes me more determined to come there and do the job.Betta Bodies gym, Denton, 2.30pm Wednesday December 2006, boy wonder jnr unveils unorthodox fighting stylepage 12'
