I was asked to design and produce a book using the photographs taken by Marc Aspland (The Times chief sports photographer) and words created by Owen Slot (Chief Sports Writer) about Ricky Hatton’s first fight in Las Vegas.
The book was produced to promote the Sports pages of The Times.
The content was taken from a series of articles that had appeared in the newspaper over a period of several weeks. The book was designed in this way to show that the reporting was fair and accurate. This was important because the book had a secondary purpose, to encourage other key sportsmen and women to allow the writer and photographer closer access. This would be mutually beneficial. The sports pages carry in-depth interviews with the sportsmen and sportswomen, hopefully helping to increase readership whilst at the same time promoting that particular personality.
